2024 Subaru Impreza

For the 2024 model year, Subaru is updating the Impreza with new tech, a new powertrain option, and the return of the rally-inspired RS trim level.

The RS offers a sportier exterior trim and a 182-hp 2.5-liter flat-four engine. And now all Subaru models will come with a continuously variable transmission and a five-door hatchback body configuration - the sedan model is discontinued.

Updates to the Impreza's exterior are similar to WRX and Crosstrek's latest generation. Thus, a larger fuel tank has been added. While changes to the interior are like the Crosstrek, now an 11.6-inch display is standard.

Powering the new Impreza is still a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter flat-four engine with a continuously variable transmission. This engine can output 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque.

A larger 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine is also available, and it's exclusive to the new RS model. With this engine, the RS provides 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.

With its larger fuel tank and various engine options, the EPA estimates the new Impreza gets an estimated 27/34 mpg with the base engine and 26/33 mpg for the 2.5-liter model.

Inside the cabin of the 2024 Impreza, a seven-inch touchscreen display is standard, and it controls the sound system, HVAC, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's also a larger 11.6-inch touchscreen, and it comes with a Starlink multimedia system. Also available are a Harmon Kardon 10-speaker sound system, heated front seats, and a height-adjustable driver's seat.

Available in all Impreza models is Subaru's suite of advanced driver aids called EyeSight. Standard features still include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure mitigation. New features include a blind-spot warning system with an intervention assist function to help steer the Impreza to avoid a forward collision.
