Thank you for giving back! - Scott J.

During this Holiday season, we were so happy to have the GF Subaru team to our facility in East Grand Forks. They generously donated their time to help pack food for children in our Backpack Program. It was great working alongside and getting to know you all! With so much need out there, it's wonderful knowing there's people and businesses like you who care and give so much back to the community. We can't thank you enough! - North Country Food Bank

Subaru Adopt A Classroom Phoenix Elementary School - Kevin O.

On behalf of Phoenix Elementary School's students, parents, and staff I would like to say "Thanks" to Subaru and our local Subaru dealership for supporting education. Our teachers have received $500 to use toward supplies for their classrooms. Subaru has donated an amazing $5,000 to our school. We are so grateful that these teachers will not have to spend their own money to purchase classroom supplies for their students. Thanks to Michelle & Matt Bredemeier for always giving back to our Grand Forks community. You will see in the attached pictures our staff, the teachers selected and the Subaru leadership team! Please help me in saying "thanks" to the Subaru team if you stop by the dealership. Their support of education is noticed and appreciated. Principal - Kevin Ohnstad

Grand Forks Central FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California - Trevor L.

Each year, student members of the Grand Forks Central Future Business Leaders of America have a chance to compete in business related events at the State Leadership Conference. If they do well enough, these students earn the opportunity to compete on the national stage. The FBLA National Leadership Conference has over 10,000 students from across the country competing in events ranging from objective tests to performance based events. During the 2024-2025 school year, Central had three students qualify in separate events and were given the opportunity to attend the national conference in Anaheim, California. These three students were very excited for this opportunity, but there was a huge factor in their way, the cost. Each student was responsible for raising $2,165. The three students knew this was a trip they were passionate about so they got to work right away raising money. They thought of Grand Forks Subaru and they called to tell them their story and what was needed. GF Subaru helped defer the cost for our students and helped them make their way to California and to compete at the National Leadership Conference. Thank you Grand Forks Subaru for your donation and commitment to education in the community.

Grand Forks Subaru - A Great Community Partner! - Brenda K.

Grand Forks Subaru has been partnering with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for several years through the Subaru Lover to Care Initiative, blessing blood cancer patients with gifts of soft, warm blankets and messages of hope. Subaru of America and its retailers are committed to positively impacting the communities where they live and work, and have partnered with LLS to send hope, love, and warmth to patients facing cancer. Michelle Bredemeier of Grand Forks Subaru shared why this partnership is meaningful to her stating, “Heather and the whole staff at Altru Cancer Center are amazing human beings for the care and compassion they provide to the patients. Jil and Katie Fiemeyer drove over 3 hours to be part of the presentation of the blankets. Their daughter/sister was a patient at Altru Cancer Center and, unfortunately, passed away a few years ago from the disease. We were impacted by their story of what they went through as a family; it seems like everyone is affected by cancer in some way. I, personally, was able to give blankets to a couple of patients that were present. It brought joy to my heart to see the smiles on their faces when they received their blankets.” The Altru staff also expressed how meaningful it was to have the Fiemeyer family participate in the delivery and their gratitude for the Subaru team for supporting their patients. These partnerships between community partners like Subaru, healthcare workers like the Altru staff and those who are working to support the cure for blood cancer and improve the quality of life of patients are making a real difference for patients!

Drive Your Dreams: Love the Journey - Sara T.

Many organizations and businesses talk about the importance of connection, but few are able to accomplish it to the life-changing level that Grand Forks Subaru has achieved. The Grand Forks Subaru dealership believes in their slogan of love in such a tangible way that it has echoed through the halls of Community Alternative High School, a place filled with students who might need a little extra love and support than their peers. As a teacher at Community, connecting and helping students grow is a major part of what I do each day. When Marilyn Ripplinger and I approached Matt and Michelle Bredemeier with an idea that we thought had the power to impact many students and change the life of at least one, there was no hesitation on their part. Matt and Michelle dove in to support local students because they know what community is built from the ground up. To outsiders, giving away a car may seem like a one-off gift, but for the Subaru Crew, we saw the ripple effect as the plan came into focus. Many students at Community stay local, so we found it surprising that so many students graduated without their driver's license. These students would earn a diploma, but we wondered how successful can someone be without the option of personal transportation. Our goal was to boost the number of students graduating with their license, but we saw an increase in students finding employment, and remaining in good standing-often coming to find myself or Marilyn to update us on how close they were to being qualified to win a car. The student who was eventually selected met multiple criteria: being a high school graduate, having a driver's license, having a job, being in good standing, and being 18. We saw so many students push themselves to improve and qualify for the giveaway before the winner was announced at graduation. The student who won the car, Annika Surface, had this to say: "Winning a car means so much to me. I got my drivers license later than my peers but that was okay with me because at the time my family and I did not have the funds for a car. The car we were eventually able to afford is not reliable and things need fixing constantly. Winning a car now gives me the opportunity to go places and do things I wasn’t able to do before. Having this car brings me confidence in getting myself to places without the worry of something breaking or needing a jump start. This opportunity is something I’ve never thought I would even have the chance of receiving and I appreciate it with all my heart." The tears of gratitude that were shed by Annika and those close to her spoke volumes. We are so lucky to have Grand Forks Subaru in our community because they practice love in action. This wasn't just a gift of a car, for Annika, it was peace of mind, knowing she had reliable transportation as she continues to work and grow in the greater Grand Forks area. For the students who participated this year, this car pushed many to take their driver's license test, many students found employment instead of taking some time off, and many more students who are currently enrolled at Community know that they need to make good choices if they want a shot at the car next year. I am so thankful to Grand Forks Subaru for their excitement, support, generosity, and love this year and am amazed that they plan to continue to partner with our high school to change the lives of our population. For a group of students who don't always have as much support as their peers in the traditional high schools, I can't imagine what it feels like to know that a car dealership is rooting for you and wants you to succeed!

Grand Forks Senior Center - Michelle B.

Thank you, again, Grand Forks Subaru for being so generous! Meals on Wheels is so vital for seniors in our community and we greatly appreciate the opportunity to partner with you locally, as well as Subaru of America. We really are honored that you chose us as a hometown charity when there are so many deserving organizations to pick from, so thank you. Subaru Loves Pets Month with COFAS - Arielle T.

Grand Forks Subaru partnered with Circle of Friends Animal Shelter for Subaru Loves Pets month and the Subaru Loves Pets Adoption event. Alongside sponsoring adoption fees for the adoptable animals that were there, they also helped us in preparing to host a microchip clinic to microchip public pets! That's not all that Subaru has done for COFAS this year, they also sponsored the rest of our adoption fees for the month of October to help get pets adopted and into their forever homes. We are so thankful for the partnership we have with Grand Forks Subaru and we look forward to partnering with them in the future again.

Riverside Christian School is grateful to Grand Forks Subaru for their incredible support over the past year & previous years! Their generosity towards our Annual Fall Banquet & Annual Golf Scramble has been invaluable. The mission of Riverside Christian School is to nurture and develop a Christ-centered education that inspires students to excel academically, grow spiritually, and impact their community for Christ. With over 220 students from Pre-K to Grade 12, Riverside Christian School is dedicated to transforming lives through a well-rounded, Christ-centered education. Grand Forks Subaru Makes Impact in Hillsboro, ND - Travis C.

Hillsboro, ND is a great town with 1,600 residents in eastern North Dakota. Hillsboro still has a hospital with an emergency room to support local residents! To keep this facility going an annual Sanford Hillsboro Golf Tournament is held every July. In 2024, $30,000 was raised for our local hospital. Thanks to Grand Forks Subaru sponsoring our local hole in one contest at the Tournament, participants had fun and ensured that we would have a great tournament. Special thanks to Matt at Grand Forks Subaru for coming through Hillsboro!

Grand Forks Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Tate T.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) was proud to partner with Grand Forks Subaru as a hole sponsor for our annual Golf Scramble and a gas sponsor for our Coaches Time Out Retreat this past year. FCA's mission is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. We are not able to effectively work towards this goal without generous support for sponsors like Grand Forks Subaru. With 26 High Schools, 3 Colleges, over 500 Coaches and countless Middle Schoolers, FCA is working to transform the culture through sports. The great Billy Graham once said that "..a coach will have more impact in one year than most will have in a lifetime." Anyone who has been involved in sports knows this to be true, and FCA wants to make sure that impact is for good and for eternity. Thank you Grand Forks Subaru for helping us serve our community.

Valley Senior Living's 19th Annual Golf Classic - Shaun H.

Thank you Grand Forks Subaru for sponsoring our 2024 Valley Senior Living Golf Classic on July 18. We had great weather, good company and a lot of fun. It was a tremendous success with 131 golfers participating and $65,000 raised. Proceeds will be used to support improvements at Tufte Manor and the Greg V. Hanson Nursing Scholarship Fund. Tufte Manor funds will improve interior social and public spaces. This will help us maintain a homelike atmosphere for our residents. The areas impacted will be great places for those who call Tufte Manor home to gather and socialize with each other, their visitors, and our staff. The Greg V. Hanson Nursing Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to Valley Senior Living employees who are interested in continuing their education to become licensed nurses at Valley Senior Living. All recipients are thankful for the support they receive to continue their nursing careers and make a difference for our residents. Grand Forks Subaru, your participation and commitment to our tournament has made a significant impact for both residents and care partners. Thank you!

Grand Forks Subaru Supports Blood Cancer Patients - Brenda K.

The Subaru Loves to Care program aims to spread hope, love and warmth to cancer patients in local communities across the country through blanket donations and messages of hope written by their customers. That is exactly what the Grand Forks Subaru team did on June 20th when they rolled up to Altru Cancer Center in their shiny Subarus. Altru staff were welcoming and very appreciative on behalf of all their patients for the support this partnership between Grand Forks Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has provided over the past years. Through this nationwide partnership, Subaru retailers will have supported nearly 350,000 cancer patients by the end of this year. Subaru is proud to be LLS’s largest automotive donor. Michelle Bredemeier of Grand Forks Subaru loved being able to deliver 80 blankets to the Altru Cancer Center. “We are honored to bring warmth and comfort to patients who need it the most...it is an eye opener for many of us to see how many people are having to endure a cancer battle. We are ALL affected by cancer in some way.” We are grateful to Grand Forks Subaru for helping improve the quality of life of blood cancer patients and their families!

Subaru Knows How to Relate - Jill C.

The sign at the dealership read, “Get a great vehicle and support a great cause.” Looking back, I would add in bold lettering: “Work with GREAT PEOPLE!” When Matt and Michelle Bredemeier and three employees from their service and sales staff carried into our nonprofit clinic an oversized check reading $18,083.00, our eyes filled with grateful tears. The sheer generosity presented to us that morning took our collective breath away. As a pregnancy and parenting support clinic offering 100% of our services free of charge, the impact of that check is impossible to measure. With 96% of our annual budget derived from donations, this gift enables us to “share the love” with countless Relate Care Clinic clients. The Subaru Love Promise to show love and respect to all people at every interaction rings true with us, too. Our clients come from all walks of life and offer favorable feedback 100% of the time. I know this to be true because I initial every exit survey, and clients often add extra, heartfelt comments. Recently, a client thanked us by writing the simple message: “I felt comfortable.” That may not seem like a rave review on the surface, but before her appointment, this client had been filled with stress and emotional turmoil—a safe place to process the medical information our nurse offered, was exactly what she needed. Not everyone has a built-in support system, and sometimes, what is needed most is a nurse who listens with her heart. We agree with you – “Communities get stronger when everyone is cared for.” When a car dealership sells great vehicles and employs great people, it only makes sense that it also serves the best people. The trust shown by our community and the customers who chose us for their hometown charity donation is truly humbling. Our little corner of the world is a better place, thanks to Subaru of America and the Bredemeiers at Grand Forks Subaru. I thank you on behalf of the Staff and Board of Directors of Relate Care Clinic. We feel your love. Jill Chandler, Executive Director

Relate Care Clinic

Relate Care Clinic - Michelle B.

Grand Forks Subaru chose the Relate Care Clinic as our 2023 Share the Love local charity. On May 9, 2020 Grand Forks Subaru was honored to present a large check in the amount of $18,083 to Jill Chandler and her staff at the Relate Care Clinic. When it comes to the Share the Love local charities, Grand Forks Subaru ALWAYS contributes higher than the minimum required for the monetary contribution. The Relate Care Clinic serves families in our community. They provide guidance and mentoring for families who are expecting a child. They also provide free clothing, food, diapers, etc. to the families. The Relate Care Clinic exemplifies the HEART pillars to their clientele. Grand Forks Subaru is beyond ecstatic for being able to present such a large check to such a deserving local charity.

Downtown Development Association Cleanup - Michelle B.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, Grand Forks Subaru participated (as they do every year) in the downtown cleanup event held in downtown Grand Forks. Grand Forks Subaru has donated all of the cleanup, equipment and tools to the Downtown Development Association , along with purchasing a bench for the downtown, which was made out of recycled items. A few of the Grand Forks Subaru employees take time out every year on the designated Saturday to clean up the downtown by picking up trash and cleaning out the flowerbeds and other areas that are in the downtown area.

Downtown Cleanup Day sprouted by Grand Forks Subaru - Svea B.

The Downtown Development Association hosts Downtown Cleanup Days each spring and fall to help clean up leaves, trash, and garbage in the downtown area. Around 3 years ago, we were struggling to find reliable equipment to use for these events. We'd get big groups of volunteers but then not have enough equipment for them. Then, we thought to partner with Grand Forks Subaru through their Subaru Loves the Earth program to help us buy some equipment to make these days more impactful for the community! They were generous enough to help us buy plenty of brooms, rakes, trash grabbers, and even a cool sidewalk sweeper we've named "The Subie"! This partnership has vastly improved our efforts during cleanup days the past two years along with year-round for cleaning! Last week we had our spring cleanup day and hosted tons of volunteers from the community. The volunteer group always consists of some amazing team members from Grand Forks Subaru who help us! They come smiling and ready no matter rain or shine. They are true community champions and help give their time, talents, and treasures! Additionally, the DDA helps manage and program a public space in our downtown called Town Square. Grand Forks Subaru heard our efforts to improve the space and offered to donate to us a bench made from recycled snack wrappers! Seating is a huge need for public spaces and we love seeing this environmentally friendly bench used daily! Overall Grand Forks Subaru has been such an amazing partner for the DDA and we could not do the work we do without them!

Operation Warm - Michelle B.

We, at Grand Forks Subaru, participated in the Operation Warm event. The United Way of Grand Forks/East Grand Forks was our chosen beneficiary. In the past, we have partnered with The United Way in the backpack program, providing food for our local school-aged children. How awesome that besides food, we were now able to provide clothing. We spent $7,500 to provide coats, shoes and socks for the children in need in our community. Due to transportation issues/schedules for the children and their families, The United Way opted to have a drop-off event instead of holding the event at the dealership. In hindsight, that was a blessing, because on January 3, 2024 there was a fire at our dealership. Thankfully, no one was injured, because it happened after business hours. We were closed for business for 5 days. When we re-opened for business, we had to use the Service Drive, job trailers, and ice-fishing houses as makeshift offices so that we could continue to service our customers in the best way possible. January 31, 2024 myself, Michelle Bredemeier, and one of our employees, Trinidy Larsen, loaded up our Subarus and delivered tons of boxes to The United Way of Grand Forks/East Grand Forks. There is a huge need for these items in our community. We, at Grand Forks Subaru, were honored to be a part of Operation Warm, and would love to participate in this event for years to come!
